My experience with Avard Law was extremely disappointing.
I contacted the firm because I had not received my representation contract after requesting that it be resent. Since the office was nearing closing time, I called to follow up. During that call, the receptionist repeatedly interrupted me, spoke over me several times, and disconnected the call before I had finished asking my questions.
When I called back to explain that I was still seeking information, I was again talked over and was not given the opportunity to finish speaking. The interaction was dismissive, unprofessional, and left me questioning whether this was a firm I wanted representing me.
Afterward, I took the time to send a respectful and detailed email outlining my concerns, hoping they would be acknowledged. Instead, my concerns were completely ignored. I received only a brief response stating that my file would be closed and thanking me for the opportunity to review my case. There was no acknowledgment of my experience, no apology, and no attempt to address the conduct I described.
Based on how I was treated and the complete lack of accountability afterward, I was left questioning whether implicit bias may have played a role in my experience. I cannot say that with certainty, but as a Black woman whose photo is visible in my email correspondence, the dismissive treatment made that possibility difficult to ignore.
Customer service is the foundation of every business, especially a law firm where clients are often seeking help during vulnerable moments. Respect, patience, and professionalism should be the minimum standard.
In the end, I’m grateful I chose another firm. Looking back, I believe I dodged a bullet. I cannot recommend Avard Law based on my experience, and I hope they take meaningful steps to improve how prospective clients are treated.
