Where do I begin?! As a 'law abiding citizen' for all of my 40 years on earth, I never thought I'd be accused of a 2nd degree felony. Even more over, charged with 'Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon'! As someone with a lot to LOSE, I knew I had to FIGHT! I just didn't know how.
I didn't know where to turn. I was confused, afraid of the future and every law firm I called SCARED me into thinking I really was 'GUILTY' of this charge! Some even mentioning '10-20-LIFE' rule! I was so aggravated, agitated and deflated, I chose the wrong attorney! I quickly got away from that law firm and was BLESSED to find Michael Panella.
I tearfully explained my case and he intently listened, for over an hour!
I got off of the phone with him with so much renewed faith and hope and he never let me down. He immediately took over and began attacking this case.
What I didn't realize going into this is, it takes TIME for the case to move through the judicial system. Motions are filed; prosecutors drag their feet and purposefully elongate the case to break you down. They want to see you give up, but attorney Panella wouldn't let that happen. He's even kind of a therapist in the way he always kept me calm and stabilized my mind when it was going crazy! Email after email, question after question and suggestion after suggestion I would send to him.
He would always say to me, 'I got you', and that he did!
After a year of fighting, a year of going to Seminole county courthouse monthly, and even when the prosecution wanted me to take a lesser charge, Mr. Panella stayed steadfast.
After a year at battle for me, I finally received the words I was looking for, 'Your case has been dismissed'!
The relieve I felt, was like no other.
